Talking HR 011 - Trust At Work

In this episode Krishna and Jon talk about trust at work.

The World Economic Forum called for a "fundamental reboot" of the economy.

There's yet little agreement in how this will be executed, but a more people shaped approach to business seems as if it is going to be one essential part.

This show reviews the findings of the 2009 Edelman Trust Barometer, also presented at Davos.

This suggested "Business leaders need to think differently about what it means to be a public company. No longer can their sole objective to be to maximise profits."

So what is the role of trust in both the short and longer term? How are businesses going to have to change? And what role will HR need to play in bringing this about?

Talking HR 010 - Navigating Our Way Out Of The Recession

In this episode Krishna and Jon talk about the role HR can and should play in helping organisations chart a new course through recessionary times.

The recession is really biting now.

In the UK, Woolworths are relaunching, but this time online (what will that mean for employees/skill sets etc?) and in Ireland, Diageo have put their previously announced €650 million investment in new brewery operations on hold.

But the recession is now truly global in nature too – for example, it has also been announced that more than 20m rural migrant workers in China have lost their jobs.

The World Economic Forum has called for the global economic system to be rebuilt, but as yet there is no clear solution to the current "crisis of capitalism".

We discuss what businesses need to do to work through and get themselves out of these extremely difficult times. And of course, we will be consider HR’s role in helping their businesses do this.
